Symmetric + Asymmetric balance

This project challenged me to think about balance in a couple of different ways, symmetric and asymmetric. Symmetric balance is more formal. Asymmetric balance is more exciting. There is more variety and movement.

Texture + Depth

Again, looking at letters as shapes. Here we studied depth and texture. I never thought of using type accomplish those. It was very interesting.

Typography + Composition

This project was interesting. I learned a lot about how to make the figure and ground blend. Using and compiling diffent letters is something I've never seen before. It also helped me to think of letters as shapes.

Letterform + Composition

This project inspired me to think of letters in a different way. Instead of just letters, I got to think of them as shapes. It was difficult at first to figure out how to avoid creating a focal point. But once I changed my mindset of the letters, and focused on the shape and direction of the line, it was more successful.
